The environment variables telemetry reads. Names are decided here so the collector step (1.11) and every service's deployment file spell them one way.

Telemetry is off unless OKTOID_TELEMETRY_ENDPOINT is set. A service therefore starts, and exports nothing, with no collector configured (slice 1, step 1.4).

endpoint​

The OTLP/HTTP base URL of the collector, such as http://otel-collector:4318. Unset or empty: telemetry is off, no SDK is loaded.

sampleRatio​

The fraction of root traces kept, 0 to 1. Default 1. A trace that arrives with a sampled parent is always kept, so a sampled gateway request is traced end to end.
