Variable: Hostname

const Hostname: TString

Defined in: packages/contracts/src/schemas/federation.ts:33

A hostname, as HOSTNAME_PATTERN describes it.

The pattern is about spelling, and an IPv4 address is spelled like a hostname: four labels of digits are four valid labels. The pattern cannot be tightened to refuse them, because it is part of published schemas and those only grow. Code that is about to treat a host as a DNS name (derive a URL from it, ask for a certificate, publish it) also calls isAddressLikeHost.
