Why an invitation failed, as a closed set of codes and never the provider's own words (they can quote the address or the name):

  • provider_rejected: the provider refused the person as given, usually a name or an address it does not accept, or its mail system refused to send;
  • provider_conflict: the provider already has an account with this address that the platform did not make;
  • account_linked_elsewhere: the provider's account is already linked to another person here;
  • person_erased: the person was erased before the mail went out, so none was sent;
  • other: anything else; the operator's log has the code.

Widening this list is additive; narrowing it is a new version.
